Filling 95 Calorie Miso Soup✨
hey, so i have been (mostly) vegan for quite some time and i found that lots of simple asian foods are vegan more often than not! i also noticed that so many are super low in calories (but who is surprised i mean asian countries have way lower rates of obesity).
i went shopping at walmart today and i found this:

it has mackrel powder so it’s not vegan friendly, but the other parts of this recipe are! you’ll also want:
Ocean’s Halo Sea Salt Snack Seaweed packets. UGH i love these. they are only 20 calories per packet which comes with like 10 sheets?? and they are so yummy and a great for curbing salty chip cravings?? so you could eat 5 of these packets (50 “chips”) and then hit 100 calories. AND they are super cheap, like $1.50 a packet. i stan.

This is optional but:
Tofurky Hickory Deli Slices

FIVE slices (one serving) are 100 calories !! and i know that’s scary but honestly, who eats five slices of meat?? and it was only $1.98
you might be able to find this miso soup the asian food section of your local grocery store and if not, def in an asian market!
it’s a big pouch and it comes with three packets and it was only like $2!
each packet is only 35 calories !!
you can eat it alone just like that and save the calories but if you’re looking to get filled up, you can follow what i did:
- boil 2/3 cup of water or more in a small pot (you can add more and it won’t add more calories! it’ll just fill you up! personally, 1 cup of water was perfect for me!)
- while the water boils, empty the packet into a bowl ~ 35 cal
- crumble 5 pieces of ocean’s halo seaweed into the bottom of the bowl ~ 10 cal
- add some red pepper (however much you like) ~ 0 cal
Optional
- rip up or shred two pieces of tofurky and add it to the boiling water. give it a little stir. ~ 40 cal
- add one tablespoon of chili paste (i add some bc i like it spicy and i tend to eat slower and drink more water when my food is spicy) ~ 0 cal
To finish it off:
pour the boiling water (and tofurky if you added it) into the bowl! give it a little stir until the miso powder is dissolved and there ya go! a nice filling soup! i also suggest adding a little more seasoning or soy sauce (10 calories per tablespoon) for flavor, especially if you added more water!
